How ClariVein® Removes Varicose Veins

Step by Step Photos

ClariVein® is a very straightforward treatment for getting rid of unsightly varicose veins, but it works in a different way to other treatments.

Treatment is delivered using a specially designed soft and small-caliber catheter, which enables the targeted delivery of a drug together with a rotating tip which agitates the internal lining of the vein, so that it is closed down.

Step 1:

clarivein step 1

The ClariVein® catheter is introduced into the vein under ultrasound guidance. This is done through a tiny incision and the catheter is threaded along the length of vein to be treated.

Step 2

Once in the correct position, the rotating tip of the catheter is set in motion, which sensitises and damages the lining of the vein. At the same time, a sclerosant drug is sprayed from the tip of the catheter and causes the vein to close. The device is pulled back along the vein to treat the full length required.

Treatment is surprisingly straightforward – patients can return to normal activity the same day.
