veins embarrassment

Facial Spider Veins Prejudice

Did you know, women with skin conditions often experience not only embarrassment but prejudice and even abuse.

A survey of 2,000 women by SEQaderma in 2015 found that a shocking 66% reported prejudice or abuse due to skin conditions.

One of those problems may be facial thread veins, a condition which affects many women and men.

The potential for prejudice and abuse is arguably higher, as one of the known causes and associations is alcohol consumption. Excessive broken capillaries or visible veins on the face, cheeks and nose are commonly associated with drinking, as alcohol can be a significant factor in the development of spider veins on the face.

Alcohol is not the only cause of thread veins.  Other potential causes include sun exposure, smoking, or injury. There are also factors that we can’t do anything about, such as the natural ageing process, a genetic tendency, hormones and skin type/coloration.

However, whether the cause is ‘self-inflicted’ or not, there are potential treatments for facial thread veins which can improve their appearance, giving a patient more confidence so that they don’t need to worry about the appearance of unsightly facial veins.

Facial Vein Treatment

Advanced laser technology is now available which can target visible facial veins. Cosmedics Skin Clinics’ main London Vein Treatment Centre has the sophisticated Harmony XL Pro Laser treatment, which targets problem capillaries, vessels or veins with targeted laser energy. This damages the veins so that they shrink, shrivel up and then disappear. Laser energy also works to stimulate healing and cell renewal in the treated area for clearer-looking skin. It is a gentle and effective treatment for facial thread veins on the face.
